Waking Up White

Book Study with Pastor Dave
Mondays, (April 16 and 30, and May 7 and 14), Noon at FLC (lunch provided); or 8 p.m., Drekker Brewing Company, downtown Fargo

As much as we wish racism wasn’t an issue in the year 2018, it is still revealing itself in unfortunate ways. How can we, as people who partner with Christ in carrying out God’s mission for the world, find new ways to love and value the diversity that surrounds us? I believe the best way to answer that question is to talk, to learn from each other’s stories, and to step into the future with a broader world-view.

So, I’m inviting you to join me in a four-week book study while we read “Waking Up White, and Finding Myself in the Story of Race,” by Debby Irving.

Irving’s journey of self-discovery, thoroughly detailed, explores the complexities of race and racism in our country’s history, as well as our own individual socialization. Her reflections are thought-provoking, often challenging, and ultimately inspiring. For questions, please contact Pastor Dave at dadams@flcfargo.org.
