Join us at First Lutheran Church as we embark on this journey through Lent.

God’s story is a story of rescue. This theme is woven throughout Scripture — from the very beginning of creation, through every chapter of human history, to the ultimate rescue we find in Jesus Christ. God has always been on a mission to rescue and save his people from sin and death.

During this season of Lent, we’ll explore key moments in Scripture that highlight God’s acts of rescue. Each rescue reveals God’s heart for his people and invites us to consider the depth of our own need for rescue. Through his son, Jesus, God offers the greatest rescue imaginable. Jesus took our sin upon his shoulders and put it to death on the cross. It is through his death and resurrection that we are rescued! We receive forgiveness of sins, not because of righteous things we have done, but because of his mercy, through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit (Titus 3:5). As God’s church we are rescued to rescue— empowered by his living water to bring life and hope to the world.
