What does it mean to serve?  Look at Jesus. His life was the model of service to others.  He washed his disciple’s feet. He fed hungry people. He healed the sick. Jesus is the standard of service in the world and has been for over two-thousand years.

As followers of Jesus, we take his call seriously in Matthew 20:27-28, “…whoever wants to be first must be your slave— just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.

FIRST LUTHERAN CHURCH

Serving in the local church. There, sometimes, can be no greater joy. People work full-time jobs, sometimes six days a week, and then spend their time that they could be relaxing and resting, serving their church.

I’ve heard countless stories of volunteers telling me that serving at church is the “highlight of their week” or that they “look forward all week to serving”. Why is that?  Because in service to one another we see Jesus

The church is not relegated to the four walls of a building. At First Lutheran, we are excited for the opportunity to be the hands and feet of Christ in our community. Check out the many ways to serve on a local team of volunteers.

We support a large number of ministries in the FARGO/MOOREHEAD COMMUNITY, with our time and finances.  We hope you can join us.

This is a very exciting time to be involved in world missions. Urbanization and globalization have opened doors to communicating the Gospel and sharing resources unlike any time in our history. Here at First Lutheran, we are excited about the opportunity to partner with those involved in advancing the Gospel and serving God’s people. Currently we travel to and/or support missions in Mexico, Ecuador, Slovakia, Africa, China, and the Middle East.  If you're interested in traveling on a global mission team, let us know!
