Give a Boost

by Katie Kringstad

A few weeks ago, at Norman Lutheran Church while getting ready for service our youngest daughter Claire was pretending that she was the pastor. She was up in the pulpit trying to see over the top but she just wasn’t tall enough. A few minutes later I looked up and saw Claire standing tall and proud in the pulpit with a big smile on her face.

I wondered how she had accomplished this. I walked around the corner expecting to see that she found a stool but instead I found that her big sister Christina had seen her struggle and came to help her out and give her a boost so that she could accomplish her goal. Christina received nothing in return in fact, from the pews you wouldn’t have ever known she was there.

It says in 1 John 2:10, “Anyone who loves their brother and sister lives in the light, and there is nothing in them to make them stumble.” Yes, Claire and Christina are biological sisters, however, in the eyes of God we are all brothers and sisters in Christ. When we help each other out and show love to one another it brightens the light of God that is within each of us. We can help each other to not stumble, give each other a boost when we need it and show kindness and compassion.

I know I can try harder to keep my eyes open to the needs and struggles of those around me. I also know that once in a while each of us will need a boost and as brothers and sisters in Christ that is our call to one another.

Have a blessed week,

Katie Kringstad
Intern Pastor
