Choose Life

by Shelly Erickson

I saw this posted on a social media site the other day. I laughed and laughed when I read this and thought to myself, "Isn't that the truth! Let's proceed together with caution after this crazy difficult year and for heaven’s sake, don’t touch anything!"

2020 has challenged us more than anything else in our lifetime. We have been forced to adapt and change quickly and not by our own choice. Change can be hard, but change can also be exhilarating and bring about new life and exciting possibilities.

“But forget all that—
it is nothing compared to what I am going to do."

Isaiah 43:18

For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it?
Isaiah 43:19

God invites us to join Him in creating this something new.

“Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses. Now I call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Oh, that you would choose life, so that you and your descendants might live!”
Deuteronomy 30:19

10, 20, 30 + years from now, what will be your story about this time in your life? What will you share with others younger than you, your kids, grandkids, great-grandkids? What did you learn? How did God move you? How did God move within you? How will your story help others know God and live fully?

I don’t know what 2021 will bring but I do know this, you and I are loved beyond measure from a God who is full of compassion, unconditionally full of grace and who is FOR and WITH us. He wants us to choose life.

Rest in that truth and then go ahead and walk into 2021 reallll slow with others who choose Life. We’re in this together.

Good-bye 2020 and Happy New Year!
