I remember a day, this past summer, swimming with the kids at Detroit Lakes. It wasn’t really swimming…it was more like soaking and laughing and playing and eating pizza. The day was sunny. The water was warm. It was a moment, an afternoon, to soak in the goodness and the blessings of life. I look back upon that day and just smile!
The apostle Paul, as you know, was swimming in different waters before he became this ALL IN kind of guy for Jesus. Then, then Christ, gave him a different life. He was converted. His eyes were opened. He was baptized into Christ with this robe of water. His life was now soaked in God’s love found in Christ.
His life was now drenched with God’s grace.
His life was now saturated with God’s mercy.
His old life was washed up as his life begins to take in this life-giving water from a new source. He could not get enough Jesus in his life. He was like a sponge to water…. In Ephesians, Paul says that God has chosen us before the foundation of the world. God has adopted us. In him, we have salvation. We have the certainty of forgiveness. God’s grace is lavished upon us. He has made known the mystery of his will, his plan for the fullness of time. In Christ, we have inheritance and we are marked with the seal of the promised Holy Spirit.
