First Day in Heaven

by Intern Pastor Katie Kringstad

I saw this beautiful picture on Facebook. The title was “First Day in Heaven.” It’s hard to even describe the emotions that go along with this picture. Beauty, Hope, Love, Healing, Joy, Compassion and Happiness are just a few that come to mind. We live in a world that can feel very dark at times and because we love much we also grieve much. When we have to part with those we love the most it can feel like the end. Our grief is real and it is painful.

Seeing an image like this brings beautiful light and comfort to those who have lost loved ones and reminds us that this life on earth is not the end but the beginning of an eternity in the paradise of heaven, which is more beautiful than anything we can imagine. Heaven is a place of restoration, joy and love. Heaven is victory over death as it is said in 1 Corinthians 15:51-52, “Listen I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed – in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.”

We will be changed and there will be no more pain, cancer, dementia, addiction, sadness, or fear. Revelation 21:4 tells us, “He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.”

I pray for those who are mourning and brokenhearted. Lord Jesus, give them the peace that only you can give, knowing they are not alone but cradled in your loving arms. Amen.

Have a blessed day,

Katie Kringstad
